The Australian Journal of Crime Fiction publishes peer-reviewed scholarly and critical studies of work in the crime fiction genre. Works examined do not have to be Australian. Appropriate forms of submission include articles, reviews, texts, and interviews. Submissions are double-blind peer reviewed.
Submissions should include an approximately 200 word abstract, be double spaced in 12 point font size, utilise Harvard, and be emailed in the format of Word, Open Office, or PDF.
Reviews
We accept single title reviews of up to 1000 words in length. If your single title review extends significantly beyond 1000 words, perhaps consider developing it into a scholarly article. Reviews of multiple titles can be up to 4000 words in length. All submissions should be double spaced in 12 point font size. Files can be in the format of Word or Open Office.
Scholarly articles
We prefer researched and referenced articles to be no longer than 5000 words. They should include a list of works cited. References and citations should be in Harvard style. All submissions should be double spaced in 12 point font size. Files can be in the format of Word, Open Office, or PDF.
Interviews
Author interviews are welcome as we aim to create a repository of practitioner knowledge around the practice of crime fiction. Interviews can be in essay style or question and answer format. All submissions should be double spaced in 12 point font size. Files can be in the format of Word, Open Office, or PDF. A photo of the interview subject can be included.
Copyright
Authors retain copyright for material published in The Australian Journal of Crime Fiction. If you wish to re-publish your work elsewhere, you will not need The Australian Journal of Crime Fiction’s approval to do so. We would, however, appreciate acknowledgement of first publication. For example, "First published in The Australian Journal of Crime Fiction (www.australiancrimefiction.com)".
